Organic Matter

This is an ongoing project for the silver jewellery company 'Grey Clouds & Silver Linings'. Commissioned to create a selection of designs for packaging and background for other advertising materials, the work pulls from organic influences ranging from surface texture, to living things and dried objects. These items also influence the work within the company.

the Cursed Prince

This collection stems from a rejection of the typical representation of men and women in literature, initiated by reversing the roles of the hero and his fated, as the traditional tropes of storytelling are inverted. Focusing on fairy tales, the designs take classic elements and characteristics from the tales and twists them with their Romantic counterparts in literature to create a Gothic and evocative collection of fabrics that infer a story through visual elements. The Cursed Prince suggests a characterisation without visually conveying this in the fabric. Designed for bespoke tailoring as a reaction to the absence of the dramatic in menswear, the collection focuses on evoking atmosphere and mood, using the wearer as an active protagonist rather than depicting a linear story.

Intrepid Explorer

Working on an external brief for Colour Hive, this project is designed within the trend forecast parameters of the theme 'Story' for A/W 2019/20. Presented with an overview, colour palette and visual cues to start, this work focuses on the art of travel and a sailor's experiences of using the skies to navigate as inspiration, creating a collection of dynamic and illustrative samples to depict the concept of travel and adventure. As a sailor myself, I was able to draw from my personal knowledge for informed decision making regarding material, subject and final curation.

Free Spirit

In connection with a design business brief in which my team created a bespoke gift box making service, I created a collection of wrapping papers for Father's day. The colour palette of the collection was pulled from a WGSN Father's day trend forecast and inspiration comes from personal connections between the sea and my relationship with my father.

Interruption

In a project designed to push the boundaries of material properties and capabilities, I chose to combine calico and plaster of paris to create a solid, textured surface from a flexible material. I used various combinations and ratios of the materials to explore how the properties alter between creation and application. The lighting installation uses calico scraps, plaster of paris, acrylics and brusho inks to create hanging solid pieces that filter and distort light.

Provocative Urban Fusion

Designing for a brief, this project gave space to explore colour and pattern with a client profile in mind. Using photography and colours from a selection of photos taken in London, this collection of fashion fabrics was designed for a digital artist working in Berlin and for whom individuality is key.

Tropical Fusion

This collection stems from a project aimed at the commercial side of textile design. Designing for and in a similar style to Ted Baker, floral influences and a strict colour palette are used to create a collection of fabrics for the menswear collection. A selection of printed fabrics were created using a combination of palette knife painting and digital manipulation, then super-imposed into fashion visualisations.

Ethereal Fluidity

Working to the WGSN trend forecast for S/S 19 'In Touch' with a fashion focus, this project looks at spectrum colour qualities, liquid motion and reflective properties. Using PVC and other light, synthetic fabrics, undulating surfaces and transitional colour mixtures convey this concept.

Abstraction of the Crystalline Form

Using the abstraction of crystals as a focus for the interest of natural rock surfaces, this collection uses line, colour and texture to create a selection of designs aimed at fashion fabrics but presented in application neutral format.
